    Erik Gjovik|Sep 26, 2022

One of the larger meets of the season so far had several lightning-related delays, but once the starter's gun went off and the skies cleared, it was smooth sailing at Valley City's Bjornson Golf Course for the Blue and White Invitational Saturday, September 17. Carrington, Griggs/Midkota and HWC all attended the meet, which also featured many Class A schools. The Cards placed ninth overall in both the boys' and girls' varsity races with 270 and 290 points, while the Titans' numbers in the boys'...

  • Cards sweep Rebels, Aggies at nets last week

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 19, 2022

Consistency from point to point can be a challenge at times for the Carrington Cardinals. However, in two sweeps for the Cards over Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier and Park River/Fordville-Lankin, their fight and resilience was on full display. Coming back from deficits of 7-1 and 14-3 in the two matches wasn't easy, but CHS accomplished that in wins against the Rebels (25-19, 25-18 and 25-22) and the Aggies (25-15, 25-14 and 25-20). With the victories, the Cards sit at 1-0 in the district and 3-1...

In back row play, Alaina Bosche's 40 digs led the...

  • Cards drop fourth straight on grid

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 19, 2022

The scheduling gods may have been particularly unkind to the Carrington Cardinal football team. Of the four teams in Class 11B Region 2 that the Cards have faced, three of them are currently at the top of the standings, with an 11-1 combined record. That stretch continued Friday night, September 9, as undefeated Thompson rolled into Stadium '22 and took down CHS, 36-14, behind a balanced attack that netted the Tommies 405 yards of total offense. However, the quality of opponents Carrington has...

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 12, 2022

Hillsboro/Central Valley did all their damage to the Carrington Cardinals in just one half of football Friday night, September 2. Specifically, a several-minute barrage of points late in the first and early in the second quarter that shellshocked the Cards and ended their realistic chances almost before they started. HCV took a two-touchdown lead after the first quarter, but turned on the jets in the second 12 minutes to take a 38-7 lead at the break and finish with a 38-14 win in Hillsboro....

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 12, 2022

In Binford Thursday night, September 1, the Titans took three sets off Benson County, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-15. Things didn't quite appear as rosy in the second game five nights later, as the Aggies of Park River/Fordville-Lankin took a three-set sweep. Mehus takes over for Katie Eggermont as G-M head coach, who stepped away from the sport to spend time raising her...

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 12, 2022

But the Region 2 powerhouse gathered themselves and took the final three games to send the Cards to defeat for the first time this year, 21-25, 20-25 and 8-25. Even with the loss, Coach Megan Trautman is pleased with how her team has looked at times in the first week. “We’ve come out with a lot of energy and played some really great volleyball,” said Trautman. “You can’t rush time...

Heisler answered the Cards' first lead of the season on a Logan Weninger seven-yard touchdown and long extra point by Jack Paulson at the...
