  • Warbirds roll over G-M

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 5, 2022

As much as they could, the Griggs/Midkota Titan football coaching staff saw some positives from their second game of the season. Unfortunately, the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood Warbirds were not in a conciliatory mood, and laid the lumber to the Titans in a 65-8 loss in G-M's home opener Friday night, August 26. "The team played hard, but we struggled to move the ball offensively," said Head Coach Ryan Dockter. "Our defense was able to create a few turnovers, but really couldn't stop them. We knew it...

  • Growing pains: Braves' big passing plays sink Cards

    Erik Gjovik|Aug 29, 2022

The Bottineau Braves, in their one season of nine-man football in 2021, came tantalizingly close to advancing to the Dakota Bowl. Dreams of showcasing their abilities on the Fargodome turf were dashed by eventual state champion LaMoure/Litchville-Marion in the semifinals, 20-6. The Braves and Coach Zach Keller made the move back up to Class 11B this year, and Carrington was their first opponent out of the gate. CHS played competitively with a quality opponent, but fell to 0-1 with a 26-14 loss...

G-M (0-1) scored their only touchdown of the game in the second quarter when quarterback Brady Haugen scored on a keeper behind the blocking of Isaac Stadler and Levi Kautzman, putting the finishing touches on a 15-play drive. However, the Titans spent much of the game dealing with the effectiveness of the Colts' "T" offense, popularized by the University of Mar...

  • Girls' golfers continue string of third places

    Erik Gjovik|Aug 29, 2022

When Kindred and Oak Grove have been ruling your golf region for many a year, a third place finish in any meet is a realistic goal to pursue. Carrington got their fourth straight "bronze" to start the fall girls' season, as they competed at Fargo Country Club on Monday, August 15, and at Enderlin two days later. In Enderlin, junior Kacie Rexin, the only placer for the Cards in Fargo, came in third among all shooters with a score of 85. Aubrey Neis and Molly Hansen both shot 107 to take 10th and...

    Erik Gjovik|Aug 29, 2022

With the clock ticking down to the start of the football season in Carrington, construction crews from Seating and Athletic Facility Enterprises of Ellendale, Minn., were hard at work over a week's period to ensure that the successful opening of the so-called "Stadium '22" would happen by the time of the first varsity game of the season....

The Thompson native is the third principal to take the reins at CHS in three years, and takes over for Chrystopher Bitz in the position. "Carrington has a very proud history in academics and the community, and I feel blessed to work in such a great com...

The Cards placed third as a team at both meets, which are composed entirely of Region 2 schools. • Cards aim for playoff return in '22

    Erik Gjovik|Aug 15, 2022

The bleacher area of the to-be-inaugurated "Stadium '22" was still just a concrete slab as of this time last week, but the Carrington football program was hard at work trying to build something of their own in early practice sessions last week. CHS graduated 13 seniors from last year's 4-5 team that was in playoff contention for the fourth and final spot from Class A Region 2 until the whistle blew on the second-to-last week. Seventh-year Head Coach Kyle Smith will guide a group of Cardinals...

"Obviously didn't have the results we were looking for," Head Coach Tim Ranum sighed, regarding his Post 25 team's latest trip to the State Class B American Legion Baseball Tournament in Garrison. Whether it was the unfortunate draw of facing two of the top three teams in their pair of losses to finish the season, miscues at inopportune times, or a young team running out of luck, it all seem to go south for the Redbirds Wednesday and Thursday, July 27-28. Post 25 ran into a power-surging...

    Erik Gjovik|Aug 8, 2022

Under the tutelage of second-year Coach Wayne Shipman, the Cards made strides throughout the year in shooting consistent rounds, and a good young class of golfers coming up is cause for optimism. The top returner is junior Kacie Rexin. She was the lone state qualifier by automatic score, and finished second at the regional...
