    Erik Gjovik|Jan 8, 2024

The Carrington girls wrestling team turned some heads at the Rumble on the Red December 28-29, taking home sixth place among a herd of large school North Dakota and several Minnesota programs. CHS scored 86 points on the strength of three individual placers, and finished behind tourney winners Bismarck, Minot, Bismarck Legacy, Bemidji, Minn., and Mandan. Fourth-place finisher Madalina Ciubotareanu, a freshman at 136 pounds, won her first three matches by pin, and ended with four wins in six...

  • Dakota Datebook: Strange stories in North Dakota

    Jan 8, 2024

It's the fantastic that sells. In 1907 and 1908, Ward County newspapers reported on a mess of such tales-some tall, some so strange they must have happened. In one story, as the Kenmare news reported on this day in 1908, a buffalo that had wandered down from Canada apparently had an identity crisis. The buffalo joined Kenmare man J. A. Englund's cattle herd, and managed to go home with the herd. Once there, after he was discovered, the buffalo picked a fight with Englund's Red Poland bull....

    Mary Steurer, North Dakota Monitor|Jan 8, 2024

by Mary Steurer, North Dakota Monitor January 3, 2024 Homeowners in North Dakota can now apply for up to $500 off their 2024 property taxes. The new program, administered by the Office of State Tax Commissioner, aims to take pressure off taxpayers as the state government enjoys an unexpected financial surplus. Once approved, the credit would reduce your bill for t... Full story
