    The traditional end to the wrestling individual tournament regular season came and went at the East-West Tournament in New Salem January 26-27. The event brings the best Class B male wrestlers from the two longitudinal directions under the Holsteins' "barn", for one last head-to-head chance before overall seeding is determined.     In their final regular season tournament of 2023-24, the Cardinal girls wrestlers finished in a 10th-place tie at the 42-team Belle of the Brawl at Central Cass High School in Casselton January 26-27. Sophomore Khendra Garcia topped all CHS placers with a runner-up podium finish at 130 pounds. Ashley Lindberg was third at 250 pounds, taking two pins and two decisions.     The Knights of Columbus basketball free-throw contest was conducted by Carrington Council 4951 on Sunday, January 28 at the Carrington High School east gym. James Oatis was the 10-year-old winner. Radke Hooey won the 11-year-old division and had the highest shooting percentage of all contestants making 14 of 15 shots.     The Harvey-Wells County girls basketball team finished out District 8 competition picking up two big wins this past week. The Hornets hosted Drake-Anamoose in Fessenden and held off a third quarter charge to claim the victory. The Hornets also picked up a big win over Lewis & Clark in Berthold to finish district play with four wins.     The Harvey-Wells County Boys Basketball team went 3-0 this past week picking up District 8 victories over Drake-Anamoose and Lewis & Clark and also defeating Kidder County. The boys will continue into the heart of District 8 action with games against Velva, Surrey, Glenburn and TGU in the coming weeks.
