    Looking at sanitation proposals, at their last meeting, the Carrington City Council agreed to refuse all four bids to redesign the bidding process and analyze what the city needs.   • Dept. of Health records another COVID-19 death in Foster Co.

    The North Dakota Department of Health reports that a person from Foster County has died with COVID-19, bringing the total of deaths from the disease in the county to 21 since the pandemic began. There have been 965 confirmed cases in the county. Age and sex-related identifiers for the deceased are no longer released by the department. Reporting from last Wednesday shows that statewide, the Omicron wave appears to be on the decline, down to 1,966 active cases. The pandemic high of 12,019 was recorded on January 21....

    Once again the Foster County Commission met in a shorter-than-normal meeting to discuss county business. During the meeting held on Tuesday, February 15, the Board discussed ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Funds. Foster County Auditor Brad Solberg told the Board that key features in the final rule will allow counties to recover lost revenue brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.     Clarification is needed on the sales tax article written by Amy Wobbema, “City sales tax revenue reaches record high”, which was published in the Feb. 14 edition. Carrington City Auditor Jennifer Gast told the Independent that no sales tax revenue is deposited into the general fund.     Jamestown, N.D. — With the support of 393 people, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation raised $129,700 in one day, surpassing the goal of $125,000. Giving Hearts Day is an annual 24-hour fundraising event. Since 2008, supporters have raised more than $112 million for 550 nonprofits in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
