North Dakota anglers, trappers and hunters are reminded that new licenses are required beginning April 1. Licenses can be purchased online by visiting the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website, gf.nd.gov. Once the license is processed, hunters and anglers will have the option to print a hard copy and/or download the license to a smart phone or mobile device, which is helpful when asked to show proof while hunting or fishing in rural areas that lack cellular service. The Foster County 4-H Livestock Judging teams wrapped up their season at the state contest in Fargo on Saturday, March 5. Junior team members include Haylie Spickler, Cyrena Kuss, Kadence Spickler, Trace Spickler and Cally Hansen. The team placed first overall. Mariah Wetzel, née Mertz, a devoted and lifelong farmer, recently started a new precision agricultural business aimed at improving the profit margins for farms throughout the region. – The Northern Plains Water Quality and Wildlife Program is a new funding opportunity available through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). The Foster County 4-H crop judging teams wrapped up their season at the state contest in Valley City on Saturday, March 12. The junior team finished second out of 11 teams. Team members are Abby Lee, Kenleigh Hinrichs, Brandt Klein and Linda Yuja. Individually, Lee finished first out of 51 contestants. Hinrichs placed fifth, Klein was 22nd and Yuja was 36th.
