Carrington Redbirds T-ball players, ranging in age from five to seven years old, took the field for the first organized sporting activity on the new Cal Ripken field at City Park Wednesday evening, June 7. As many of the participants had never played the sport until this summer, triumphs were celebrated, and (mostly) controlled chaos left some fun memories for all who witnessed the event. The implementation of a three-division basketball plan by the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) on February 8 has spurred momentum on adopting a similar plan for volleyball. Grady Shipman, a junior at CHS, shot a 36-hole total of 81-91-172 at the State Class B Boys’ Golf Tournament Tuesday-Wednesday, June 6-7 at Bois De Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton. Shipman was the only Cardinal to qualify for the state tournament, and NR-S freshman Jackson Schumacher was the Rockets’ solo representative. Schumacher shot 87-90-177.
