  • Redbirds take two defeats at RRV Babe Ruth tourney

    Erik Gjovik|Jul 29, 2024

Playing without pressure of advancement, the Carrington Redbirds Babe Ruth team ran into some strong pitching at the Red River Valley (District 4) League Tournament in Mayville. In games played on July 17 and 18, the eighth-seeded Redbirds were pitted against top overall seed Thompson #1, and were defeated by 10-run rule, 10-0, on the first day of action. "Last winter was mild, resulting in higher adult survival and fawn recruitment from 2023," Stillings said. The July aerial survey indicated the overall pronghorn population is up 31% from last year. The...

Carrington has just two 12-year olds on their roster, with the remainder at 11 years of age. The 'Birds took an 11-6 win over the Beulah/Hazen North Stars in the first game on July 18 in pool play, then dropped a close 4-3 decision to the Star City Stampede (Velva) later that evening. On Saturday, they played just...
