    Erik Gjovik|Aug 12, 2024

+++ "Nothing you wear is more important than your smile." - Connie Stevens +++ Brianna Eli's current school, Michigan State University, had something to say on the subject of smiling back in November, 2015. "It really does take more muscles to frown, about 47 of them. And for smiling, we only use about 13," wrote Jodi Schulz of the MSU Extension that year. Jeff Gale, NDSU Extension Agent, Foster County|Aug 12, 2024

The cool weather slowed the development of both corn and soybean plants. Soybeans, in particular, do not fare well when night temperatures drop to the lower 50s, as low temperatures inhibit the movement of starch from soybean leaves to seeds. Forec...

  • Upside Down Under: What's happening with the dairy industry...

    Marvin Baker|Aug 12, 2024

A couple of weeks ago KFYR-TV in Bismarck reported North Dakota now has only 29 grade A dairy farms, down from 53 in 2020. The number of dairy farms has been sinking for many years with no recourse to keep the industry from spiraling out of control. Back in the 1950’s there were thousands of dairy farms in the state. Thousands might be a little misleading because back then, any farm with 10 or more milk cows was c...

An international student at LRSC, to whom Doug and I became quite close, shared my passion for Anne Frank. When her mom came to visit, they invited me to visit them in Luxembourg and promised to...
