  • Cards sweep Rebels, Aggies at nets last week

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 19, 2022

Consistency from point to point can be a challenge at times for the Carrington Cardinals. However, in two sweeps for the Cards over Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier and Park River/Fordville-Lankin, their fight and resilience was on full display. Coming back from deficits of 7-1 and 14-3 in the two matches wasn't easy, but CHS accomplished that in wins against the Rebels (25-19, 25-18 and 25-22) and the Aggies (25-15, 25-14 and 25-20). With the victories, the Cards sit at 1-0 in the district and 3-1...

  • Cards drop fourth straight on grid

    Erik Gjovik|Sep 19, 2022

The scheduling gods may have been particularly unkind to the Carrington Cardinal football team. Of the four teams in Class 11B Region 2 that the Cards have faced, three of them are currently at the top of the standings, with an 11-1 combined record. That stretch continued Friday night, September 9, as undefeated Thompson rolled into Stadium '22 and took down CHS, 36-14, behind a balanced attack that netted the Tommies 405 yards of total offense. However, the quality of opponents Carrington has...

It's long been a tradition to cut out a nice photo in the newspaper, perhaps of your kids or of a relative, to remember the time they made the front page or got a good tackle during that week's football game. However, the photos that actually make it into the print newspaper are only a fraction of the high-quality pics the Independent takes every week. Over the course of a football game, for example, the photographer is likely to capture dozens of excellent photos, most of which, of course, can'...
