Creamery held their "Christmas at the Creamery" event Saturday, Dec. 7, at the business's headquarters at the farm of Casey and Maartje Murphy, located just over five miles east of Carrington. Wagon rides were a popular attraction, along with market vendors offering their wares, a nativity scene in the barn, live reindeer on display, and games for the kids, not to mention the creamery's delicious food offerings....

  • New community pasta event seeks contestants

    Your local newspaper is teaming up with your local pasta producer to put together something the Central City has never seen before. Introducing 8th Avenue and Main Pasta Fest, a community event that blends together fantastic food and Carrington camaraderie.     Get ready for four days of fun at the 92nd annual Foster County Fair, happening from Wednesday, June 19, through Saturday, June 22. The Mighty Thomas Carnival will once again bring rides, lights and cotton candy to the fairgrounds all four days.   • Freedom 5K set for July 1; registration open now!

    Kick off the Independence Day weekend with the Freedom 5K in downtown New Rockford. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Transcript Publishing office, 817 Central Avenue in New Rockford. Race time is 8 a.m. Early bird registration is $25 for adults, and $20 for youth 12 and under through Monday, June 19. Registration increases to $35 for adults and $30 for youth as of June 20, and full price registration will be available on the day of the event.     The music departments for both Carrington Elementary and Junior High/High Schools let their holiday cheer shine through at their respective Christmas Concerts, held Thursday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 6. Student musicians from Kindergarten through ninth-12th grade provided wondrous melodies, ranging from the humorous to the introspective to the sacred.   • Headlocks hosts BBQ cookout

    Headlocks Bar in Carrington hosted its first annual BBQ Cookout competition on 9th Ave. S. Saturday, September 10, in conjunction with JunkFest festivities also held that day. All proceeds from the free-will offering at the event went to Lee Ann Hoppe for medical expenses....

  • Weddings: Cardenas-Hewitt

    Austin Hewitt and Caroline Cardenas were married on August 27, 2022. Their wedding took place at the home of Caroline's parents, Joe and Veronica Cardenas, in Helena, Montana. Austin is the son of Kent and Cindy Hewitt of Carrington. Both Caroline and Austin are doing their surgical residency training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin....
