The Foster County Commission learned at their meeting last week that Dianne Hertel, county treasurer has resigned her position. Hertel has been with the treasurer’s office since 2013, winning the election for that office in 2014. During the meeting, held on Tuesday, July 18, auditor Ellen Roundy told the board that she and her deputy could take over the duties temporarily while they evaluate their options. On July 19, the Carrington Chamber & Economic Development Corporation held a ribbon cutting at the new Central City Wellness Center at 950 Main Street. The wellness center just recently opened and is now offering classes and memberships. People of all ages can reap the benefits of this new business on Main Street. According to Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus, North Dakota’s taxable sales and purchases for the first quarter of 2023 totaled $5.7 billion, an increase of 21.4 percent compared to the same time frame in 2022. “We experienced significant year-over-year growth throughout 2022 in taxable sales and purchases.
