    The Foster County Commission learned at their meeting last week that Dianne Hertel, county treasurer has resigned her position. Hertel has been with the treasurer’s office since 2013, winning the election for that office in 2014.   • Central City Wellness holds open house

    On July 19, the Carrington Chamber & Economic Development Corporation held a ribbon cutting at the new Central City Wellness Center at 950 Main Street. The wellness center just recently opened and is now offering classes and memberships. People of all ages can reap the benefits of this new business on Main Street.   • Taxable sales in Foster County, Carrington continue upswing

    One of the signs of a healthy economy is an increase in taxable sales and purchases. According to Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus, North Dakota’s taxable sales and purchases for the first quarter of 2023 totaled $5.7 billion, an increase of 21.4 percent compared to the same time frame in 2022. “We experienced significant year-over-year growth throughout 2022 in taxable sales and purchases.     The Foster County Commission learned at their meeting last Tuesday that the county received the reimbursement for season-wide snow removal from the state. During the meeting held on Wednesday, July 5, deputy auditor Hailey Bachmeier reported that of the $345,775.66 received for snow removal reimbursement for the months of October 1 through April 30, townships will share the money.     Carrington Public Schools are doing fine, even better than they anticipated a year ago. Finance Committee chair Kevin Wolsky offered positive news to the school board at Tuesday’s meeting.     Katie Grager's Thrivent office in Carrington hosted a Cruise Night Poker Run on June 27, 2023, with Carrington Community Pool being the recipient of proceeds raised.
