October 29, 2024 The Carrington FFA Chapter has a long tradition of competing at a high level at the National FFA Convention, and 2024 was no different. Tuesday, October 29 The recent loss of Drake's only grocery store has the rural community searching for solutions. The closing of Drake Fresh Foods came with just three weeks' notice, leaving the town's 280 residents without convenient access to fresh produce and staples like milk, eggs and bread. Tuesday, October 29 The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will begin using a waitlist to decide who to admit to prison first after running out of beds for male inmates. North Dakota's prison system has been over its capacity for men since July 1, 2023. As of Monday, it had roughly 150 more male prisoners than it had space for. A pickup collided with the rear of a semi-truck just under two miles west of Sykeston Sunday evening, Oct. 13, resulting in life-threatening injuries for the driver of the pickup.
