    The gates to the Foster County Fairgrounds will open wide at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Missy Hafner, the event's coordinator commented, "I's like to call it a gathering of collectors, creators and makers. Everything from found items to recreated items to curated items."     Local farmer, Brent Bachmeier, recently directed a $5,000 Bayer Fund America's Farmers Grow Communities donation to the Carrington FFA Chapter. The chapter will use the funds to assist with repairing and staining bleachers at the Foster County Fairgrounds as well as help students attend various events throughout the year.     Carrington Area Healthy Communities Coalition will host the 2nd Annual Out of the Darkness Walk this Sunday, Sept. 10. The event begins with a free-will donation lunch at 12:30 p.m. in Carrington City Park.   • Carrington Blood Drive brings in 72 volunteers

    CARRINGTON, N.D. – The Carrington community hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on August 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church which helped collect a total of 86 units of blood products for patients in need. A total of 72 individuals volunteered to donate blood and 67 individuals were able to successfully donate at the Vitalant blood drive on August 7. A total of 16 donors also came forward to donate Power Red Cells (2RBC) which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution back to the donor.     Sixty Foster County 4-H'ers exhibited projects at the North Dakota State Fair in late July, achieving impressive results. In the 4-H livestock division, Cally Hansen exhibited the reserve champion gilt over all breeds. She also had the overall reserve champion market hog. Ty Kulsrud showed the reserve champion Charolais heifer, and Jackson Topp exhibited the reserve champion Angus heifer.
