  • Titans end on high note

    Erik Gjovik|Oct 17, 2022

The 2022 football season for Griggs/Midkota started with the carryover of a long losing streak, but has ended with two wins and promise that things could be looking up for the Titans. G-M put all phases of their game together in the season finale Friday night, October 7, in Cooperstown, taking a 34-6 win over the Tri-State Tigers to end at 2-6 overall. "For at least the last six years, our seniors have given everything they've had to the program," first-year Head Coach Ryan Dockter said. "The...

  • HWC finishes with 52-28 victory over Grafton Spoilers

    Lane Moellenkamp|Oct 17, 2022

The final game of the season for Harvey-Wells County didn't disappoint, as the excitement was at a high and the scoring matched that level. In a game that featured two teams that had much better plans for the 2022 season, HWC was playing their final game and standing at 2-5 on the season, while Grafton was 0-7 with a game against Rugby on October 14 to finish their season. The teams battled for the first half, but a stingy Hornet defense shut the door on the Spoilers in the second half to lift H...

  • CHS beats M-P-B; wins home tourney

    Erik Gjovik|Oct 17, 2022

The most tell-tale sign of weekend success for the Carrington Cardinals, specifically when they host their Varsity Tournament, is when they play well enough to stay in the West Gym for all six games. CHS came out on the winning end of all 12 of their sets, earned the top overall seed and took the championship Saturday afternoon, October 8, with a two-set win over the M-P-B Thunder (25-13 in both games). Starting bright and early at 8 a.m., the Cards took Pool A victories against HWC, Velva and...

    Erik Gjovik|Oct 17, 2022

It wasn't the five-set marathon that these two evenly-matched programs have been accustomed to playing over the last few years, but the Carrington Cardinals and Oakes Tornadoes met up for some hotly-contested tension at the nets in Tornado Alley Tuesday night, October 11. The Cards fell in four games to the Tornadoes, 21-25, 25-15, 19-25 and 18-25, giving Oakes (5-1 District 5) the number two seed for the upcoming District 5 Volleyball Tournament at Barnes County North in Leal October 27, 28 and...

  • Ground and pound: CHS shuts down HWC, keep playoff bid alive

    Lane Moellenkamp|Oct 10, 2022

Carrington kept their late season resurgence alive with a convincing 28-6 win over HWC on Friday, October 1, in Carrington. The Cardinals won their third straight game and kept their playoff hopes alive with a strong rushing attack and a solid defensive effort. The Hornet defense would have to stop the Cardinal rushing attack if they wanted a victory, and that was evident from the first drive of the game. Carrington's first drive started at their own 43 and moved all the way to the Hornet one...

Carrington's experience shone through in a pair of straight-set wins over Benson County in Maddock and Barnes County North in the East Gym in matches played September 29 and October 4. The Cards took on a very-green Benson County team as part of a non-region match, as the Wildcats' starting lineup consists mostly of freshmen and sophomores, and one senior in the mix. • M-P-B tames Wolves; outlasts N-G-S

    Erik Gjovik|Oct 10, 2022

Medina/Pingree-Buchanan, playing very well as of late, hasn't quite had that string of success translate to league matches. An 0-2 start to the District 6 season meant the Thunder were in need of some positive vibes heading into the second part of the slate. They would do that, taking a three-set win against the Kidder County Wolves in Medina on September 29, and were pushed to the brink for a 15-13 squeaker in the deciding set five for a big 3-2 triumph on the road over the...

  • Cards take 8th in team race

    Erik Gjovik|Oct 3, 2022

By that measure, the 2022 State Class B Girls Golf Tournament, held at Minot's Souris Valley Golf Course, ended up being a good showing for the Cards, with an eighth place team score of 784. Leading the charge for CHS was junior Kacie Rexin, with her two-day total of 160 tying her for fourth place...
