It isn't a district game when Carrington's and New Rockford's Babe Ruth baseball programs meet up with each other, but the competitive juices don't flow any less. The home-standing Black Sox overcame an early 4-2 hole with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, and held the Redbirds off the scoreboard for the final four innings in a 5-4 victory early Tuesday afternoon, June 21. New Rockford's mid-game rally made a winner out of Skye Kramlich. The Sox righty allowed five Redbird hits in a...

Carrington's Babe Ruth baseball club took their first win of the season on Thursday, June 9, with a 12-8 road win in Wishek over the Ashley/Linton/Wishek Rattlers in District 6 play. Six runs in the top of the first inning and four more in the third gave the 13-to-15 year old Redbirds a big lead they would not relinquish, though A-L-W would make a game of it with six tallies in the middle innings to get to 11-8. Carrington tacked on an insurance run in the seventh for the final tally. Josh...

With just three practice sessions under their belts, the Carrington Redbirds Babe Ruth team headed into the 2022 summer with the defending District 6 champion LaMoure A's as their opening day opponent. That first-game rust and jitters were evident, as the A's put together a solid effort to defeat the Redbirds by 10-run-rule, 13-3, on June 6 at City Park. Starting pitcher Corbin Clifton threw the first four innings, and had an up-and-down outing with five strikeouts while dealing with five...
At the conclusion of each North Dakota High School Activities Association State Tournament, there is always a time to see the post-season award winners from that particular sports season. Madden Thorson of the Harvey-Wells County Hornets was named as the track and field athlete of the year award...

It was kind of hard to believe, but the Region 3 Baseball Tournament at City Park May 23-25 represented the first home games all season for the Carrington Cardinals in the physical sense. The weather needed to cooperate just enough in the last few weeks of the season for the outfield to dry sufficiently from heavy snowpack and rain to make the venue playable. Seeded second coming into play, the Cards opened up with a meeting with surprise first-round winner SNR. The sixth-seeded Black Sox won...
In what is widely considered to be the toughest region of Class B golf in the state of North Dakota, players have to bring their individual game to have much hope of earning state qualification. Even with that effort, it was still 17 strokes behind the third place finishing school, Fargo Oak Grove, who nabbed...
