Judging by the number of building permits for 2021, the City of Carrington just keeps growing.
The Central City tallied 101 building permits last year, worth a total cost of $6,089,805 and generated revenue in fees consisting of $14,922 for the city.
The top project in 2021 consisted of a new building for High Plains Equipment at the west end of the city, with a total cost of $4,500,000, and generating revenue for the city in the amount of $7,500 in building permit fees.
Next on the list is a new home built on one of the lots where the old Elementary School sat. The home is worth an estimated $304,402, and generated revenue for the city in the amount of $1,522.01 in fees.
Other large projects in the city include work on the Garr Dental building, plus two other new buildings worth a total of $353,295.
Carrington saw three new egress windows, 12 concrete slabs and two signs installed in 2021.
The bulk of building permits in Carrington last year came from 31 shingle projects.
Some residents in the city wanted privacy, storage and a place to lounge, erecting six decks, four sheds, and nine fences along with two patios.
Home improvements and much-needed repair consisted of six tin roofs, 13 siding and three garages. There were also two sidewalks repaired, new welcome signs for the city and work done on the new Cal Ripken field.
Most of the permits issued in the city in 2021 were in May, June, July and August, with no permits issued for the months of February and December.
