Giving Hearts Day funds to benefit future of patient care at JRMC

Jamestown, N.D. — With the support of 393 people, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation raised $129,700 in one day, surpassing the goal of $125,000.

Giving Hearts Day is an annual 24-hour fundraising event. Since 2008, supporters have raised more than $112 million for 550 nonprofits in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Since 2015, generous Giving Hearts Day donors have now raised close to $500,000 for JRMC. Every dollar benefits patient care.

This year, proceeds will fund new equipment in surgery, cancer center and radiology. It also helps patient care programs, including hospice, infant loss, Kala’s Korner, Driven to Care and No Excuses.

After two challenging years, the support is extra special, said JRMC President and CEO Mike Delfs.

“We’ve experienced the emotional and sometimes physical trauma of uncertainty and loss throughout the pandemic,” he said. “We’ve had to depend on each other and the care at JRMC. With your support, care has remained constant in quality, outcomes and healing.”

The Otter Tail Power Company Foundation supported the Foundation’s goal with a $5,000 power hour triple match. “Their superpower inspired others and raised more than $12,000 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.,” said JRMC Foundation Director Lisa Jackson.

“Otter Tail Power Company and JRMC share a commitment to the communities we serve. It’s a privilege for us to partner with JRMC in this way,” said Rebecca Michael, Otter Tail Power Company communications manager

“Every single gift is meaningful to us big and small. We cherish the tributes to staff, patients and loved ones,” Jackson said.

“We were excited to help,” said Jordan Padilla, owner of Anytime Fitness. “You all are amazing over at JRMC.”

Padilla and his staff helped care for and share in the rehabilitation of Josh Brown who crashed a 4-wheeler two years ago. The accident left Brown unable to walk or talk until receiving care at JRMC.

“Thank you for being generous and choosing JRMC,” Jackson said. “Our mission to be THE difference in the lives of those we serve is our passion. You help make a lasting impression on our staff and patients.”

In 2021, JRMC delivered 331 babies, replaced 225 joints, healed 486 wounds and offered 1,471 chemotherapy infusions. JRMC also received awards as a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital and Best Place to Work. These milestones are possible because of support.

JRMC was one of 16 Jamestown nonprofits participating in Giving Hearts Day locally. Collectively, the group raised more than $1 million for local causes.
