Awards for Carrington FFA members at 2022 banquet

The Carrington FFA Chapter held their Annual Parent/Member and Awards Banquet Monday, April 4 in the CHS Commons area.

The annual banquet recognizes the members of the Carrington FFA Chapter for their accomplishments throughout the year. It also serves to recognize those businesses and individuals that have helped to support the local chapter throughout the year.

Proficiency Awards

Proficiency awards are presented to members who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in a specific agricultural area of their supervised agricultural experience program. The winners are selected on the basis of their SAE program area.

Turf Grass Management: Jacob Rexin. Jacob has been responsible for mowing the New Home Church and cemetery for the past four years.

Agricultural Services: Ian Lacina. Ian started his custom hay cutting business in 2020 when he purchased a Hesston 8840 swather. He custom cuts prairie hay, alfalfa, and rye.

Swine Production: Lea Mittleider. Lea has purchased feeder pigs for the past two years to feed and sell when they reach a market weight.

Ag. Mechanics Design and Fabrication: Taylor Braaten. Taylor's interest in becoming an electrician led to a part-time job with JMS Electric. He has been able to help with both new installations as well as remodeling projects.

Winter Show Crop Show Winners

Students in the Introduction to Agriculture and Foundations of Agriculture as well as other members cleaned and exhibited a grain sample at the North Dakota Winter Show. Several of the members earned first place honors in each division of grain.

Star Greenhand Award: Brekka Kuss. This award is presented to a first year FFA member, based on their participation in the activities of the Carrington FFA Chapter over the past year.

Star Chapter Farmer: Trisa Schroeder. This award is presented to a junior or senior member and is based primarily on the development of the member's supervised Agricultural Experience Program. Involvement in FFA activities is also considered.

Star in Ag Placement Award: Taylor Braaten. This award is presented to a junior or senior member and is based primarily on the employment of the member at an agribusiness. Involvement in FFA activities is also considered.

Outstanding FFA Member: Jacob Rexin. This award is presented on the basis of total involvement in FFA activities on the local, state and national levels over the past year. Involvement in FFA activities is also considered.

Honorary Chapter Degree: Michael and Michelle Rexin. This award is presented to individuals that have assisted the chapter throughout the year.
