Each year the North Dakota EMS Association recognizes those individuals who have made significant contributions to the provision, development and improvement to local, regional and state prehospital care.
In 2022, the Bowdon Ambulance Service received the Service of the Year Award.
The intent of this award is to recognize a service that significantly contributed to the provision, development and improvement of pre-hospital care and EMS education in their community. Any EMS organization licensed or certified in the state of North Dakota, including rescue, quick response units, industrial services, etc., is eligible.
As many of you know, most rural ambulance services are stuggling to find personnel and some are having to close their doors.
Even though the population of Bowdon is low, with only 139 people, the Bowdon Ambulance squad is mighty! The squad consists of 11 EMTs, one nurse, one PA, one EMR and four drivers, with four of the EMTs being fresh out of an EMT class that Bowdon held.
They BAS holds trainings each month. They host trainings that involve other emergency responders from Wells County and surrounding counties to attend. They are very active in attending county wide trainings sponsored by Emergency Management. This helps with Mutual Aid Response and working with other responding agencies. These volunteers have dedicated a tremendous amount of their time to training and staying current on any new EMS guidelines.
Bowdon Ambulance has a mix of experienced responders and new responders. The experienced volunteers are always willing to help guide and mentor the new responders
The Bowdon community is very proud and supportive of their squad and see time and time again how passionate their volunteers are.
Congratulations to Bowdon Ambulance for being NDEMSA’s service of the year!
