Winter snows made their way back into this region as well as most of the entire state last Tuesday as fierce winds and wet snow caused a delay in spring.
Snowfall in the Carrington area was measured around 10 or more inches, at New Rockford it was 13 inches and Fessenden listed 12 inches. And, as of Wednesday of last week, it was not scheduled to be over.
The forecast called for up to six more inches starting on Wednesday, more on Thursday and into Friday. Temperatures were expected around the 30 degree mark.
The snow caused nearly a complete shutdown of businesses in the city on Wednesday including the school, courthouse, hospital, public health, library as well as most eateries and others.
U.S. Highway 52 from Jamestown to the Canadian border was closed to traffic and no travel was advised in Foster County. Some three to four foot drifts were reported.
Statewide, Interstate 94 was closed from Fargo to the Montana border as the snow and winds blanketed most of the state.
