It was the kind of game that most likely, would be preferred by the home squad to be purged from the memory banks.
Almost nothing went according to plan for the Carrington Post 25 Redbirds in their District 4 matchup with Kidder County Post 231 on June 17 at City Park.
Seven errors led to a big 12-1 rout for the visitors, which was shortened to five innings.
Kidder pitcher Blake Braun gave up five hits in his mound stint.
Of those, Hudson Schmitz (RBI) and Jack Erickson had doubles, and other hits included Kyle Johnson and Grady Shipman.
It was a rocky time on the rubber for Shipman, the Post 25 starter. He would allow 10 runs, but just three of those were earned. He struck out six, but walked five and hit four more Kidder County batters.
All of that damage came with the benefit of just five Post 231 hits. Grant Pfaff was the only player with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with five RBIs, and Simon Hager added a 1-for-3 game.
Carrington fell to 2-3 with the loss, with all games so far within District 4.
The Redbirds were scheduled to play Kidder County in Steele last Thursday, and played in a three-day tournament hosted by Valley City and Jamestown June 24-26. A game against the A-L-W Rattlers on June 20 was rained out.
They will then be off until after the Fourth of July break, when they host the Jamestown Hawks on July 6.
