Park project seeks local donations

The Carrington Area Healthy Communities Coalition is continuing to work on the playground renovation at the park located at the corner of 15th Ave. North and 2nd St. North. The brand-new equipment will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the project will include the installation of a bathroom.

“Support from the Carrington community is essential to ensure the success of this project,” states Healthy Communities Coalition Chair Michele Seil. “Some grants have been received, but local funding will help secure other funding and help us reach the goal of installation of the playground equipment this fall.”

As a part of the project, the Coalition is hosting a naming contest, which will provide community members a sense of ownership in the new facility. The names selected for voting are “West Side Park”, “Parktastic Park”, “Sunset Park”, and “Central City Park” is the fourth name which was presented by Mark Pazdernak’s fifth-grade class during a competition held this past spring at Carrington Elementary School. Community members can vote at Foster County Public Health during regular hours or visit the booth at The Market on July 12 and July 26. Additionally, community members can financially support their vote by donating money to the project when they vote.

Individuals and community businesses can support the project with donations that can be mailed to Carrington Area Healthy Communities Coalition, 881 Main Street, Carrington, ND 58421 or dropping off a donation at Foster County Public Health or the Carrington Chamber of Commerce office. Donations are tax deductible as the Coalition is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
