Weber begins tenure as CHS principal

Connor Weber jumped at the opportunity to work in a "quality school system," in his words, and, as the district's new high school principal, strives to help continue the strong educational tradition that Carrington Public Schools have established.

The Thompson native is the third principal to take the reins at CHS in three years, and takes over for Chrystopher Bitz in the position.

"Carrington has a very proud history in academics and the community, and I feel blessed to work in such a great community," said Weber.

Coming from a sports-centric background such as what exists in Thompson, Weber believes that the CHS staff has the potential to build and remain a "strong and successful team" in the educational sense.

Weber believes in working with the staff through collaboration and teamwork to "problem solve and evolve the educational experience for our students."

He earned his bachelor's degree at Mayville State, got his master's at UND, and comes from a family of educators.

"Both of my parents are teachers. My mother still teaches in Thompson, my dad works for UND, and my sister, Karleigh, is a teacher in Larimore," said Weber.

His brother, Brandon, remains in Thompson, where he works as an agronomist.

The next few weeks are exciting times for Weber in his personal life as well. He and his fiancée, Mariah, will be married on September 3.

His personal hobbies are fishing, golf, spending time with family at the farm growing corn, potatoes, and "all kinds of other stuff," and is an avid Vikings fan.

The 2022-23 school year should be a fun one, he says.

"I believe that this will be a great year at Carrington High School. We have great students, great teachers, and outstanding support from our community," said Weber. "I look forward to learning and building on growing and becoming a better principal daily, and look forward to helping staff grow and find success as well."
