Hornets take consolation title at Bottineau Early Bird

The HWC girls' varsity volleyball team had a tough go in pool play at the Bottineau Early Bird Volleyball Tournament, but finished in style winning both games in the Consolation bracket to finish in ninth place.

In pool play, HWC lost to a very talented and senior-heavy Rugby Panther team, and also dropped two games to Westhope-Newburg. The two losses put them in the consolation bracket, where they defeated Velva and Dunseith.

Statistically, the Hornets were led by Kayme Bartz with 38 assists, Larissa Arnold with 28 digs, Christalea Wagner with 16 kills and Larissa Arnold with five aces. Wagner and Ashley Keller each had two blocks on the day.
