Warbirds roll over G-M

As much as they could, the Griggs/Midkota Titan football coaching staff saw some positives from their second game of the season.

Unfortunately, the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood Warbirds were not in a conciliatory mood, and laid the lumber to the Titans in a 65-8 loss in G-M's home opener Friday night, August 26.

"The team played hard, but we struggled to move the ball offensively," said Head Coach Ryan Dockter. "Our defense was able to create a few turnovers, but really couldn't stop them. We knew it was going to be a tough game going in."

W-L raced to 22 first quarter points, and racked up a big 52-0 lead at halftime. The Titans' only score came in the fourth quarter.

Brady Haugen went 1-for-4 passing for 6 yards, with that one reception going to Garrett Lende. Benjamin Edland led Griggs/Midkota on the ground with 38 yards on 15 carries.

"We know we could have played better than what the score showed," Dockter said. "Our game tape really opened our eyes to where some problems are happening, and we hope to use that going into next week against Hankinson."

Following last Friday's game with the Pirates, it won't get any easier for G-M (0-2), as they entertain current 9B Region 2 leader May-Port-CG in Cooperstown, starting at 7 p.m.
