Cards hit Rugby course for Panther Booster

For 28 years running, the Panther Booster Invitational in Rugby has been home to one of the biggest Class B meets of the cross country fall season.

Carrington, Griggs/Midkota and HWC were the local teams in attendance for the meet, which brought in 27 girls’ teams and 30 boys’ teams to the heart of America.

Cardinal senior Baylee Lura finished 31st overall (22:07.83) out of 110 runners in the girls’ race to lead Carrington’s contingent. Down the table, Macy Fiebiger was 61st in 23:40.73, Kaylin Pate 83rd in 25:31.59 and Molly Fiebiger 86th in 25:43.66.

Trace Hoggarth was the top runner for the CHS boys. His time of 19:57.80 would allow him to place 63rd, followed by Joe Lindberg (90th, 20:57.61) and Ben Gustafson (162nd, 25:29.38).

Griggs/Midkota had a large team of runners for the varsity boys, led by a 20th place finish by Gavin Nelson in 18:34.07. Eli Larson (34th) and Luka Berg (44th) also got in the top 50.

The Titans also had two junior varsity girls place in the top 10 out of 34 total contestants, Eryn Turner (fifth) and Tianna McCardle (eighth).

The two runners for HWC at the meet were Danica Wakefield (110th varsity girls) and Matthew Ongstad (32nd, JV boys).

The Class B East Region Meet will be this upcoming Saturday, October 16, starting at 11 a.m. in Cooperstown.
