The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets walked away with another victory this season, taking a 3-0 (27-25, 25-15, 25-13) win over the Griggs/Midkota Lady Titans Monday, October 24 in Cooperstown.
The Rockets decided to switch up their rotation again, with Ava Peterson, Kaiya O'Connor and Madisen Myhre all changing positions; Peterson at setter, O'Connor at outside hitter and Myhre at right side hitter.
According to NR-S Coach Sara Myhre, the Rockets decided to make this change due to needing another great passer in the back row.
"We need a player that can fly through the air to get those digs, like Kennedy Demester [former Rocket player] used to, and that's how Kaiya is," said Myhre.
With this game being a non-region game, it was the perfect opportunity for the Rockets' to test out this new rotation. Even with a close first set, the Rockets were able to pull away and defeat the Lady Titans, 3-0.
Big hits came from both sides of the net; for the Rockets, Kelsie Belquist, and for the Lady Titans, Asia Becherl. Belquist and Becherl took every opportunity to blast the volleyball to the weak points of the floor.
Belquist added a total of 24 kills to her record.

The Rockets had great coverage around the blockers/hitters in the win, earning many digs. Kyria Dockter and Peterson led the team in digs, with 16 and 10, respectively.
This game was the last regular season game for the Lady Titans, as they started District 5 play at Barnes County North in Leal on Thursday, October 27 against Carrington.
Titans fans honored their seniors for volleyball, cross-country and golf before the start of the varsity game. Congratulations to all of the Griggs-Midkota senior athletes.
The Lady Titans also hosted a bake sale, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the family of Bailey Jacobson. Jacobson, a player for the Rockets, is currently battling cancer.
G-M players also purchased "Battling with Bailey" shirts, and presented a gift to Bailey before the start of the varsity game.
Thank you to the Griggs-Midkota community for supporting this young student-athlete.
