This year's North Dakota Academic All-State team's have been selected, and Carrington High School's Max Beumer has been named to the Class B Gold Team.
All totaled, 202 high schoolers in North Dakota were nominated by their school's principal and went on to compete for statewide recognition in either the Class A or Class B divisions.
Each student was named to either the Gold, Silver, Bronze or Honorable Mention teams, based on their grade-point averages, ACT or SAT scores, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and leadership qualities.
As a member of the Gold Team, Beumer will receive a certificate of merit from the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP), in addition to being presented with a medallion by WDAY and Forum Communications during the televised "Parade of Academic Champions" at the Class B Boys Basketball Tournament in Bismarck on March 17.
Beumer is currently completing his senior year at CHS, and is very involved at school where he excels as a student. He participated in the Science Olympiad as well as the Academic Pursuit team, and also participates in Golf.
Connor Weber, the high school principal at CHS who nominated Beumer, had nothing but great words to say about one of the school's brightest stars.
"Max is a very intelligent young man that has a very bright future ahead of him," said Weber. "He has a strong work ethic and it shows in the type of student and person that he is. He deserves this honor as a recognition for all of his hard work that he has put into his educational career."
