Mercedes Lura earned a 12-4 major decision at 120 over Cambrie Feist of Bismarck.

Carrington's brand-new girls' wrestling program took home some hardware in the first-ever State Girls' Dual Tournament Saturday, February 18.
Coach Mark Pazdernik's girls won one of their three matches at the Fargodome, and brought home sixth place from a field dominated with Class A schools and co-ops aside from themselves and Central Cass.
In the first round, the Cards had the misfortune of being paired with the eventual state champions in the Bismarck High Demons.
The Demons' seeding of third in the West Region proved to be misleading, as the big school took a resounding 57-16 win over the Cards.
Even with the lopsided score, CHS had some notable wins, including Kennedy Wendel's 7-5 overtime victory over the 140-pound state runner up, Paige Baumgartner.
Other wrestlers to get wins over the Demons included Mercedes Lura's 12-4 major decision at 120, Khendra Garcia getting an 11-5 win at 135, and Kenzie Jost taking a forfeit at 105.
Now in the consolation bracket, the Cards took on an East Region opponent, the Grand Forks Knightriders, a co-op with Central and Red River schools.
CHS would get wins in the key matches, and clinched a 42-36 victory on Trisa Schroeder's quick pin in the second-to-last match at 145 pounds.
Karlee Lesmann started the dual with a clutch 3-2 win at 170 over the Knightriders' Olivia Ochoa, and two classes later, Ashley Lindberg got six points for the Cards at 250 with a pin in the second period.
Carrington built up a 33-12 lead over the next five weights, boosted by three GFK forfeits and a Lura pin. The 'Riders took two falls at 125 and 130, before Wendel stopped the run with a 7-4 win in the 135 match.
Garcia showed some fight against perhaps the state's most dominant wrestler regardless of weight or gender, Allyssa Johnson. The eventual two-time state individual champion, so strong that she did not allow a single point all season, tied the match for GFK with a pin in 1:28.
That set the stage for Schroeder to get the win in just 26 seconds over the Knightriders' Julia Lee. Emily Novak, the state title winner for GFK at 155, ended the match with a fall over Jyllian Parker.
The consolation championship pitted the Cards against the Fargo Stingers, eager for vengeance after the stirring 42-40 win CHS dropped on them at the East Region tournament.
This time, it was all Fargo, as they defeated Carrington by a 45-28 final score.
Wins for the Cards in the consolation included Jost at 100 pounds with a pin, an 8-2 decision for Kylie Skadberg (115), a pin by Garcia, a 19-6 major decision for Wendel, a 5-2 win by Schroeder and Parker's forfeit at 170.
The Demons defeated Central Cass, 60-21, for the dual championship. Minot and Bismarck Legacy tied 39-39, in the third place match, and Grand Forks defeated Bismarck Century, 40-36, for seventh.
