Putting the Sox through the wringer

It's a small sample size, but the statistics have been mind-blowing thus far for the Carrington Cardinal baseball team.

After two games in the books, the Cards' collective batting average is .424 (14-for-33 in both contests), their earned run average is 0.00, and they've struck out 24 batters in 10 innings.

CHS kept their roll on with a 15-0 Region 3 victory over the SNR Black Sox Tuesday afternoon at Jim Johnson Park in New Rockford.

For the second straight game, Grady Shipman drew the start on the bump, and cut through the Sox lineup for 10 punchouts. He threw 54 pitches in his second win of the season, 40 of those going for strikes.

He would make his presence known with the bat as well, hitting the first home run of the season and adding two more hits for a 3-for-4 outing.

Hudson Schmitz cracked three doubles and drove in two runs, and Owen Hagel contributed to the extra-base parade with two doubles of his own and leading the team with three RBIs. Max Whitman and Jack Erickson both had multi-hit games.

On the basepaths, Kael Kovar was uncontainable with five stolen bases.

SNR lefthander and starter Keaton Cudworth was the losing pitcher, giving up six earned runs over three innings and striking out four. Connor Knatterud pitched the final two innings for the Sox.

The Weisenburger cousins, Alex and Brody, had the two hits in the books on SNR's column.
