Cards split with L-L-M, South Border in low-scoring games

Thanks to a dominating mound stint by LaMoure/Litchville-Marion's Anthony Hanson, CHS' unblemished record on the diamond is no more.

The Loboes' ace struck out 11 and allowed just two hits to the Cards, and L-L-M took just enough advantage of limited scoring chances to shut out the locals, 3-0, at Townsend Field in LaMoure Monday, May 1.

Cardinal starter Josh Bickett pitched a good game in spite of six walks, and gave up only three hits himself. Unfortunately for Bickett, all three LaMoure runs came either via walk or wild pitch.

Connor Johnson went 2-for-3 for the Loboes, and Tate Mart had the other hit. LaMoure made the Cards live dangerously all afternoon, stealing nine total bases.

Hudson Schmitz had a double, and Max Whitman the other hit for the Cards in defeat.

The next day, the Cards played South Border in New Rockford, and needed a three-run fifth inning to sweat out a 3-2 win over the Mustangs.

Kael Kovar got the win with six innings of two-hit ball, striking out eight. Jack Erickson doubled, and additional hits came from Tate Wolsky, Whitman, Grady Shipman and Bickett.

Jace Nitschke took the loss for the Mustangs.
