The final two regular season games for the Carrington Cardinals and Nelson County/Midkota Mustangs were sandwiched into one doubleheader.
With the snow from earlier in the spring now a memory, the Cards and Mustangs got two varsity contests in the books to complete their Region 3 schedule.
And, in both games, Carrington came out on top by final scores of 11-0, playing as the home team in game one and the road team in the nightcap due to their earlier game in Tolna being rained out.
In game one, Grady Shipman had no issues mowing through the NC/M batting order, giving up just a single hit to Brody Rainsberry at the top of the lineup. He walked one, and struck out nine to pick up another victory.
Gage Flaagan took the loss for Midkota, going two innings and giving up all 11 runs, seven of those earned. He walked six and struck out three before giving way to Landon Sundeen for the final two frames.
Cardinal leadoff hitter Josh Bickett went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Shipman had another two-hit contest, going 2-for-4, and Kael Kovar, in his one official at-bat, hit a triple. Max Whitman had the other hit for CHS in game one.
The second game's mound duties went to Bickett, and he worked around situational wildness with five walks but did not allow a hit. Hudson Schmitz pitched the final inning, and the Cards were working on a no-hit bid until Keegen Gjovik broke it up with the Mustangs' lone hit.
Bickett, Shipman and Kovar had multi-hit games, and Shipman homered for the fourth time this spring, while also hitting a double. Schmitz also had a two-bagger, as did Ethan Roller.
In the win for the Cards, they scored multiple runs in all but the second and fifth innings.
Brody Hoyt took the loss for NC/M in game two, going four innings. He was followed by Preston Lee for an inning, and Gjovik for the final two.
