Independence Day is a time to celebrate our freedoms, and to honor those who secured those freedoms for us and continue to protect us today. Parades, backyard barbecues, and fireworks are symbols and festive reminders of the holiday.
While Carrington has enjoyed public fireworks displays in the past, those events have been self-funded, paid for with local donations. To steward these donations several years ago, Lisa Marcotte started the “Lights of Honor” fund for Carrington, and she paid for ads, hung posters, and placed collection jars at local businesses.
Continuing these traditions, the jars are back at several local businesses, and the Lights of Honor Independence Day fireworks account is accepting donations to purchase fireworks. Checks payable to “Lights of Honor” can be mailed in care of Bank Forward, PO Box 222, Carrington, ND 58421 or can be dropped off in person at Bank Forward, 484 Main Street in Carrington.
Carrington’s Independence Day fireworks show will begin at dusk, originating from the Foster County Fair Grounds.
