CHS' Shipman hits links for state golf

Grady Shipman, a junior at CHS, shot a 36-hole total of 81-91-172 at the State Class B Boys’ Golf Tournament Tuesday-Wednesday, June 6-7 at Bois De Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton.

Shipman was the only Cardinal to qualify for the state tournament, and NR-S freshman Jackson Schumacher was the Rockets’ solo representative. Schumacher shot 87-90-177.

Region 2 runner-up Aidan Hall of Northern Cass was the state champion with a 71-77-148, one shot better than Karsen Kulseth of Bowman County. Cole Holzer of team champion Central Cass tied for third with South Border’s Zach St. Aubin, two shots back.

The Squirrels (623) won the tournament by 33 strokes over co-runners up Oak Grove and Bottineau, who shot a 656.
