Bowdon Farmers Market is preparing for their summer 2023 season kick-off with the opening market at their usual indoor location at the Bowdon School. We are looking forward to another fun-filled vending season as a registered member of the North Dakota Farmers Market and Growers Association (NDFMGA).
We are planning five markets with the first market on Wednesday, July 19 and following markets on August 2, August 16 and August 30, then ending with the fall market date of Wednesday, September 20. Market times are 4:30 to 7 p.m. with a community meal being served starting at 5 p.m.
Each market will host a variety of vendors. In the past, vendor products included locally grown fresh garden produce, eggs, sweet corn, hand- spun yarn, household cleaning products, original art work, handmade cards, cutting boards, home canned soups, jams, jellies and pickles, handmade Spatzle, handmade jewelry, baked goods, handmade garlic powder, pottery, plants, flowers and meat products to name a few of the interesting and fun purchases to ponder.
The Bowdon community rises to the occasion of the Farmers Market celebration of summer evenings in keeping the Bowdon Community Grocery Store and the Bowdon’s Closet Thrift Store open for last minute grocery shopping or additional browsing, while at the market.
Each Farmers Market evening is host to a “fundraiser” meal. Each meal sponsor creates a menu to include an entrée, drink and dessert. Great conversation, door prizes and exchange of greeting from those from surrounding communities abound while the shopping continues.
Other events on the schedule will be the Second Annual Rod Widicker Rhubarb Festival where samples of all kind of rhubarb dishes are available with recipes to recreate in your home kitchen. Other possible events include demonstrations, hands on crafting or live music.
