Fishing:
*Devils Lake elevation, Aug. 1: 1,450.08 feet above mean sea level (MSL).
*Stump Lake elevation: 1,450.02 MSL.
*Lake Sakakawea elevation: 1,842.42 MSL; 22,000 cubic feet per second average (CFS) Garrison Dam daily releases.
*N.D. Game & Fish Dept. Dist. game wardens: Area lakes remain generally slow. Decent fishing activity on Devils Lake but success is mixed. Slip bobbers producing smaller fish. Try spinners in deep water for larger fish but fewer numbers. Fewer anglers on the east end of Lake Sakakawea with slower walleye activity. Better success farther west of New Town in the midsection and upper end of the lake. No reports from Lake Audubon or the Missouri River.
*Devils Lake, Ed’s Bait Shop, Devils Lake: Move around with generally fair to good walleye activity in about 24 feet.
*Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, Devils Lake: Continued fair to good success walleye working deeper in 25 feet along structure. Try crankbaits or live presentations with nightcrawlers. Look for some perch in shallower water.
*Foster County area lakes, Dry Dock, Carrington: A few more anglers out on area lakes with some anglers continuing to go to Devils Lake with fair walleye success.
*Jamestown Reservoir, Pioneer Bait & Tackle, Jamestown: No new reports.
*Jamestown Reservoir, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Continued pike and crappie success on Jamestown Reservoir. No reports from other area lakes.
*Lake Ashtabula, The Hungry Pelican at the Crossing, Luverne: Continued nice perch success with improving walleye activity. Try trolling with minnows in fairly shallow water
*Lake Ashtabula, Bayshore, Valley City: Steady walleye and perch activity with a few bluegill and crappie mixed in.
*Lake Sakakawea, Cenex Bait & Tackle, Garrison: Continue working deep water on the east end of Lake Sakakawea for walleye using crankbaits or live bait presentations with minnows or nightcrawlers. Fish generally scattered so move around. No reports from Lake Audubon.
*Lake Sakakawea, Indian Hills Resort, Garrison: Scattered success in 25 to 35 feet with best activity around Deepwater Bay and Independence Point using nightcrawlers. Some larger fish now starting to show up.
*Lakes Audubon & Sakakawea, Hwy. 83 Lawn & Leisure, Garrison: Work deep in 30 to 40 feet on the east end of Lake Sakakawea with best success on nightcrawlers. Also try deep in 20 to 30 feet for walleye on Lake Audubon.
*Lake Sakakawea/Lake Audubon/Missouri River, Scott’s Bait and Tackle, Pick City: Missouri River tailrace remains slow from both boats and shore for walleye with better success in the spillway channel. Try jigs and minnows or Lindy rigs and nightcrawlers. Shore success also remains slow with best success at night. East end of Lake Sakakawea producing some walleye along the flats in deep water. Try Lindy rigs and nightcrawlers or crankbaits. Also try minnows but best success remains with nightcrawlers yet. Continued consistent salmon bite with most fish in 80 feet over 150 feet with fish scattered throughout the water column. Fish are running 3 to 5 pounds.
*Lonetree WMA area lakes, Harvey: No new reports.
N.D. river flows:
*James River, Kensal: River stage, River stage, 1.43 feet; streamflow, 2.52 CFS.
*Pipestem Creek, Pingree: Creek elevation, 5.26 feet; streamflow, 23.4 CFS.
*Red River, Thompson: River stage, 17.06 feet; streamflow, 1,360 CFS.
*Sheyenne River, Warwick: River stage, 3.53 feet; streamflow, 2.39 CFS.
