The Carrington Redbirds 12-and-under baseball team traveled to the state Cal Ripken Tournament for that age group Thursday-Saturday, July 27-29, in Grafton.
The eight-team tournament featured the Redbirds, along with host Grafton, Kidder County, Hazen-Beulah, Park River, Drayton, Thompson, and Star City (Velva).
Participating clubs were placed in two round-robin pods, the American and National. Carrington was part of the National pod along with Thompson, Star City and Drayton.

The top two finishers in each pod advanced to Saturday's bracket play. The Thompson Tommies would win the championship by a final score of 8-3 over the Grafton Gremlins, while the Hazen-Beulah Northstars finished third, defeating the Star City Stampede by 10-run rule, 12-1.
