Wyndmere/Lidgerwood made sure that the Griggs/Midkota Titans had an uphill climb ahead of them, with 22 points in the first quarter.
The Titans didn't answer until the Warbirds had their fourth touchdown on the board, and the longtime southeast nine-man power cruised to another win, 48-14, in Wyndmere Friday night, August 25.
"We got off to a rough start, but the offense was able to get in sync and made some good drives towards the end of the 2nd quarter," said G-M Coach Ryan Dockter. "In the second and third quarter, you could really see the heart of the players as they were out playing W-L, but we just really dug ourselves a hole to start."
W-L's Tyler Brandt ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more, with one going to Hunter Dunn for 41 yards and another 68-yard catch and run to Levi Kackman.
The Warbirds (2-0) also tacked on two fourth quarter scores on a Mason Conry run and Dalton Ohm's pounce on a Titan fumble in their own end zone.
G-M's two scores came from Kindle Carlson's five-yard touchdown run, and he also hauled in an 11-yard pass from James Woodstead. Carlson has all three touchdowns for G-M so far this season.
This past Friday, the Titans hosted second-ranked Sargent County.
"It will be a tough game, but we feel we like we can compete with them," Dockter said. "The keys for us will be to take care of the ball and limit big play opportunities."
On Friday night, the Titans go to LaMoure to take on the Loboes of LaMoure/Litchville-Marion.
