Ardella Ockert

Ardella Ockert, 92, formerly of New Rockford and Cathay, N.D., died August 19, 2023, in Reno, Nevada.

A private family burial was held at Lakeview Cemetery in Cathay.

Ardella was born December 19, 1930, to John and Laura Martin near Cathay, N.D. She attended school in Cathay. One of her proud achievements was earning her GED later in life.

She married Richard Ockert on October 20, 1949. They made their home on the farm near Cathay. They had a daughter, Laura, and a son, William. Richard and Ardella farmed until his death in 1978.

Several years later, Ardella moved to New Rockford where she lived most of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Kirt) Skadberg, and son, Bill (Cindy Willey) Ockert; four grandchildren (Brad, Megan, Amanda and Nicole); eight grandchildren (Samantha, Rylee, Bryce, Nickolas, Myles, Masyn, Maddyx and Mezlynn); and two great-grandchildren (Brixton and Raydon). She is also survived by one sister, Bev Hafner.

Ardella was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and 13 siblings.
