Provided good weather prevails, an extensive improvement project will be completed at the Klindworth Seed and Supply owned and operated by Otto Klindworth, before the end of this year. It was announced this week by Mr. Klindworth.
The story of Babe Ruth, the all-time great man of baseball, will be shown on the screen at the Grand Theatre on four days next week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. William Bendix plays the part of home run king in this picture. The story is based on articles recently published in the Saturday Evening Post.
Private First Class Claude W. Swart, graduated Oct. 13 from Air Force Communications School at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. It was announced by the base commander, Brigadier General Emil C. Kiel.
Ellert Stangeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stangeland of Juanita, N.D., has been elected vice president of the International Relations Club of Concordia College. Mr. Stangeland, a senior at Concordia, is majoring in history.
S/Sgt. John D. Loesch of Melville is at present stationed at Yokata Air Force Base in Japan, 30 miles from Tokyo. He is a member of a bomber squadron.
Funeral services for Pfc. Clinton A. Albus, who lost his life in Luzon, April 20, 1945, will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on November 3, at 1:00 p.m. according to information from relatives. Clinton was a former local boy who attended Wyard Grade School and high school in Carrington.
Officers were elected at the meeting of the Carrington Golf Club last Thursday evening at the S and S Coffee Shop. Frank Johnson was named president. Tom Roney vice president and H.C. Kraus secretary-treasurer.
Walter H. Larson, Carrington, prominent Polled Shorthorn breeder, was elected president of the Sioux Empire Shorthorn Club when the annual meeting of that group was held at Sioux Falls recently.

Mr. and Mike Huss of Sykeston celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 7, with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Elizabeth Church followed by a family dinner in the parish hall and an open house for friends and relatives.
The wedding of Renee Boelke and Pat Riedesel took place at 3:00, Saturday, Sept. 15, at St. Elizabeth Church, Sykeston. Father Adam Hasey performed the double ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Boelke and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Riedesel, both of Cathay.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Okert announce the engagement of daughter, Carolyn, Sioux Falls, S.D. to Ronald Lee Weisenburger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Weisenburger, Ashley. The wedding is set for Nov. 23, in Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. John Nysted, Mrs. Robert Froelich, Esther Aljets and Mrs. Albert Lutz met one day last week with the idea of promoting a reunion for Carrington High School class of 1924.
S-Sgt. Kenneth D. Cody took part in a joint forces demonstration of modern firepower and maneuvers of Ft. Bragg and Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina in October. Sergeant Cody is an avionics systems technician with the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.
Carrington A girls lost and the B girls squad won in basketball competition with Goodrich teams Oct. 16.
The Grace City girls’ basketball team raised their season record to seven wins-one loss with a 32-30 victory over New Rockford and a 51-27 win over Kensal.
Three students from this area were awarded scholarships for the current college year at State School of Science, Wahpeton. Janice Westerhausen of McHenry received the Sue and Henry Rustad scholarship. Among students awarded North Dakota Incentive Grants were Laura M. Hoggarth of Kensal and Ann A. Kainwischer of Bordulac.

Thieves were busy in McHenry. Someone pried the door open in the Town and Country Grill. Missing was $335 in cash from bingo games held in the café. The intruders also pried the back door open of the City Meat Market and took five cartons of cigarettes and eight one-pound packages of summer sausage. They also struck at Briss Oil where they reported missing a 32 revolver along with $175 in cash. 50 compact discs, a small compact disc player, four cartons of cigarettes and several lighters.
A pair of new grain bins are being added to the complex at the Barlow Grain and Stock Exchange in Barlow. Once complete, each of the Butler full-aeration bins will be able to store 120,000 bushels of sunflowers and will compliment the two existing sunflower bins.
First American Bank will be changing their name to the founder, Otto Bremer. The bank will now be called Bremer Bank. Most banks change their names as a result of an acquisition or merger, First American is changing theirs out of respect for the organization’s heritage which began a century ago.
Chuck Gussick has been chosen by his peers as the October Employee of the month at Dakota Growers Pasta Company. He is a machine operator in the packaging department.
Berg Timm has joined Security State Bank of North Dakota as an assistant vice president of lending at Carrington.
Wendy Schroeder of Carrington has been nominated to receive the America FFA Degree the highest degree that is awarded by the National FFA Organization. This honor recognizes demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing and service programs.
Air National Guard Airman 1st class Erin J. Ludwig has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Ludwig is the daughter of James L. and Sharon M. Ludwig of New Rockford.
