Paulette Leik
Paulette Leik, age 74, of Carrington, N.D., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, N.D.
Paulette's funeral service was held Wednesday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m., at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, with Rev. Rick Loewen officiating. Recorded music was "Softly and Tenderly," and "In the Garden."
Honorary bearer was Paulette's special niece, Terry Hennings.
Paulette was born on March 2, 1949, in Carrington, to Virgil and Doris (Purcell) Hennings, of rural Foster County. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school, as well as Carrington Public Schools. Paulette attended Moler Barber College after high school in Fargo, N.D., for a year and then started cutting hair.
Following her time in Fargo she returned to Sykeston, cutting hair for surrounding communities.
Through the years, Paulette resided in Sykeston and then married Frank Brame. They had four children together.
Paulette moved around North Dakota working various jobs, then returning to Sykeston to work for Ed Mittleider's Excavation Services for a few years. After her time with the excavation service, she drove truck for Pat Biel, until she retired.
Paulette enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She spent her free time enjoying reading at the public library and her occasional crossword puzzle. When Paulette was young, she had a passion for her many horses.
She is survived by her children, Marie LeVeaux, Wimbledon, N.D., Roger (Joely) Leik, South Carolina, Clayton Brame, Courtenay, N.D., and Cliff Leik, Medina, N.D.; five grandchildren, Eli Leik, Eric Leik, Mary Keown, Gage Clary and Angela Leik; one brother, John Hennings, Carrington; one sister, Fern Hennings, Beach, N.D.; and three nieces and one nephew.
Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Doris Hennings; and one brother, Richard Hennings.
