Tourney titleists times two

The Carrington girls' wrestling program finished atop the leaderboard at a pair of tournaments held Thursday and Saturday, November 30 and December 2.

Coach Mark Pazdernik's team edged the host school by three points, 153-150, to take the Napoleon Early Bird Tournament, then captured the Pembina Co. Grizzlies Invitational in Walhalla two days later with a 173-point total.

Two Cardinal wrestlers kept their early season unbeaten records intact, as Khendra Garcia took the 142-pound division in Napoleon and 136 at the PCN invite, and Ashley Lindberg won both of the 250 brackets.

Also winning a tourney crown in Napoleon was Karlee Lesmann at 170, and Kendall Kovar won all of her matches in the 130-pound B division.

In Walhalla, Jazmyn Ybarra made the top of the podium at 124 pounds, as did Madalina Ciubotareanu at 142.

Second place finishes went to Taya Lura at 106 in Napoleon, and 155-pounder Nevaeh Sorensen had her best weekend as a wrestler with a runner-up in the combined 148/155 division in the first meet and third at PCN with a 5-2 record over the two events.
