Washburn 40,

M-P-B 27

Medina/Pingree-Buchanan couldn’t build sustained offensive success in a 13-point loss to the Washburn Cardinals at the Stutsman County Shootout on December 9.

Kalen Kinzell had nearly half of the Thunder’s 27-point output, scoring 12 points and representing the team’s only consistent scorer for the game.

Ashlyn Schmitz’s 12 points led Washburn, with Kesia Boeshans adding eight for the winners.

In their final game before the Christmas break, the Thunder will travel to Linton Tuesday, December 19, to face the Linton-HMB Lady Lions in District 2 action.

Garrison 62,

M-P-B 45

The creatively-named Little Hail Perkins made it rain in chunks for the Garrison Troopers, and the 6’3” junior forward’s 26 points surely helped his team put the game with the Thunder on ice.

Perkins would hit four three-pointers, and senior guard Braxton Iglehart finished with 16 more to give the “Troop” a 17-point win at the season-opening Linton Shootout on December 9.

Coming off their Region 3 championship from last season, the Thunder now navigate the smaller Class B landscape and have been realigned into District 2 of Region 1.

Three different M-P-B players went for double figures, as Gage Magstadt put in 15 points, Chase Ova was right behind with 14 and Terek Kinzell had 11. Kinzell would also connect from past the arc on three occasions, and Ova added two treys.

Treyson Iglehart was also a good contributor to Garrison’s winning effort with nine points.
