Thunder, Titans split games in week's play

Medina/Pingree-Buchanan avenged a loss on the girls' side to Griggs/Midkota three days before by taking their first win of the year in Pingree, 48-42, over the Titans Friday night, December 15.

The Thunder hit a trio of trifectas in the first quarter to build some distance between themselves and G-M, going up by a six-point margin at 17-11. For the game, the Thunder connected on six long range shots.

M-P-B would slowly solidify that lead, growing the advantage to eight at the half and later 11 after three quarters. The Titans made a run in the last period to trim the final tally.

Three Thunder scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Chase Ova's 13 points. Terek Kinzell and Mark Thomas both ended their night with 12.

James Woodstead paced Griggs/Midkota (1-1) with 14 points, eight of those coming in the fourth quarter. Latrell Rainey had seven first half points, and would finish with 10 for the Titans in defeat.

In a game from Tuesday, December 12, the Titan girls captured a 48-40 win over M-P-B.

Statistics from that game are now available. Maddie Gefroh's 17 points were tops for the victors, and Abby Ryun added eight in the Thunder scoring ledger.

For G-M, Jessa Spickler scored 12 points and Ryan Johnson was just behind with 10 tallies. Kennedy Reidman finished one point shy of doubles, scoring nine.
