Travis Wong receives service award

At the February Carrington Healthy Communities Coalition meeting, the Service Award was presented to Travis Wong of Basil. The nomination stated:

"Travis is committed to making Carrington and the surrounding communities a healthier place by providing one of the essentials in life – how to cook. Through his business Basil, he is providing classes, demonstrations and one-on-one support to help people better understand where our food comes from, how to prepare it and why and how food brings people together across many generations. With the increase in food prices and often unhealthy choices, many people are turning back to cooking at home and are excited to learn how to make healthy, delicious meals from scratch.

"By working in our community and by expanding to include classes in other towns, his dedication to helping people learn the basics of preparing a meal goes above and beyond. Many community members support this business and are happy to see his efforts gaining momentum; we are thankful for Basil in Carrington!"
