Jungels inks letter of intent for Mayville State football

Brock Jungels of Pingree-Buchanan High School (center), who played his high school football for the Carrington Cardinals, has signed a letter of intent to play the sport for the Mayville State Comets. He is flanked by his high school coaches, Head Coach Kyle Smith (left) and his position coach, Greg Hoeckle (right). Jungels, an offensive/defensive lineman, was named as a First Team All-State selection in Class A 11-man football this past season. He is the son of Derek Jungels and Trisha Jungels.

Cards' Rexin to join U of J women's golf in fall 2024

Carrington High School senior Kacie Rexin, daughter of Michael and Michelle Rexin of Sykeston, signed her letter of intent to join the University of Jamestown women's golf program under Coach Zach Hale. Rexin's signing could be a shot in the arm for the Jimmies, who are looking to improve their profile upon moving up from the NAIA to NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).

Rexin is a two-time All-State performer in Class B and a five-time state qualifier, with her highest finish coming this past fall with a runner-up showing at the State Girls Golf Tournament in Mapleton. She is a four-sport athlete at CHS, also playing volleyball, basketball and track for the Cardinals.

Otto signs for VCSU football

Carrington High School senior Jake Otto has announced his intention of continuing his football career for the Valley City State University Vikings, by signing his national Letter of Intent. Otto was a linebacker/offensive lineman for the Cards, and a valuable contributor to the team's success the past few seasons.

He is the son of Jason and Kelly Otto of Grace City.

M-P-B's Thomas signs for Jimmie women's basketball

Allison Thomas, a 5'6" senior guard and Pingree-Buchanan High School student, has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Jamestown Jimmies women's basketball program. She is pictured with U of J Head Coach Thad Sankey.

Thomas has been a valuable contributor to the success of the M-P-B Thunder during her half-decade on the varsity roster. She also had more than 2,000 kills and digs during her volleyball career.

She is the daughter of Redge Nohrenberg and LeAnn Thomas of Pingree.

Weninger to run for MSU-Mankato track

Carrington High School senior Logan Weninger has signed his letter of intent to continue his track and field career with NCAA Division II school Minnesota State University, Mankato. Logan, the son of Brad and Lisa Weninger of Carrington, is the reigning Class B state champion in the 400-meter dash (49.71 seconds), and has personal bests of 22.38 in the 200 and 40.39 in the 300-meter hurdles.
