The Carrington Pitcrew youth wrestling program met all their opponents head on in the Sheyenne River Valley Friday, March 8, and emerged from the fray with a tall, shiny trophy for their efforts.
The Pitcrew cracked the 40-point mark in all three of their duals to take three victories and win the championship at the Lisbon 'Lil' Bronco Dual Tournament.
In the first round, Carrington defeated Kindred, 48-12, and defeated host Lisbon by a 43-18 margin before romping to a 47-12 win over Casselton in the finals round.
Back on Saturday, February 24, the team hosted their home tournament, and came home with the 12-and-under (12U) boys dual championship there as well.
The 12-member Pitcrew squad is led by Coaches Tom Sauby and Brandon Wilson.
Other members of the club have been busy nearly every weekend since February with tournaments.
The Pitcrew girls began their first practice with a record number of first-day wrestlers on Monday, February 26, and competed in the "Wrestle Like a Girl" tournament in Valley City on March 5.
Participating in that event were Remi Wilson, Olivia Weippert, Kinzie Hoff, Alayna Gussiaas, Hadley Kramer, Rynna Jorgenson, Chevelle Beckley, Tiegan Harrington and Makenzie Simon.
