Hornets start spring track season at UND's Fighting Hawk Classic

Tallen Thorson, runner-up in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles at last year's state meet, set the school record of 8.51 seconds in the 60-meter event at the Fighting Hawk Classic.
Christalea Wagner leans across the finish line in the girls' 4x200 relay, where the Hornets took eighth. She placed second in the 400-meter dash, and fourth in the 200.
A split squad of Harvey-Wells County track and field athletes recently traveled to Grand Forks to compete at the Fighting Hawk Classic at the Fritz Pollard Athletic Center on the Campus of the University of North Dakota. The event was held on Saturday, March 16.
Tallen Thorson led the way for the HWC boys with a school-record setting time of 8.51 and a first place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
Christalea Wagner led the girls team with a second place finish in the 400, a fourth in the 200 and anchored the eighth place 4x200 relay team.
The meet was a great way to get competition to start the year in a fantastic 300-meter track complex.
The next action for HWC will be at NDSU for the state indoor on Saturday, March 23.
