The Official Newspaper for Foster County
Welcome to another edition of Business Beat. I wanted to share a few updates with you.
We have new faces on our CCEDC board and also on our Convention & Visitors Bureau board!
Now serving on the CCEDC board we have: Chairman Scott Tweed, Vice Chair Ashten Dewald, Secretary-Treasurer Deedra Aasand, Mayor Tom Erdman (city rep), Becky Hagel (county rep), Nikki Mertz and new to the board: Sara Richter, Taryn Van Bedaf and Braxton Hewitt. On our CVB board are: Chairman Tom Erdmann, Vice Chair Wendy Wise, new members: Tully Twisdale, Gabrielle Abud and Greg Carmona.
We welcome these volunteers and deeply appreciate their time and talents.
We are gearing up for another great summer in the Central City! Planning has begun for summer fun.
This year, our Chamber City Wide Yard Sales will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have already had some folks register their sale site! Many people from outside our community come to Carrington to shop for bargains at the sales and spend some time and money here.
We also will host our Chamber Golf Day again on June 25. Here’s an opportunity to get a team together and golf in the evening scramble or just come on out with some friends and enjoy an afternoon of free golf. Others may gather to enjoy the delicious meal and take a bike or walk on the beautiful recreational path. Thanks to all the wonderful sponsors who help make it happen. Stay tuned for many events and activities all summer long.
Our office also works in the realm of tourism; working to promote Carrington and the surrounding area and encourage visits and overnight stays. The N.D. Travel Industry Conference will be held April 8-9-10 in Fargo and I plan to attend hoping to bring back new ideas and information.
On the EDC side of things, you may have heard or noticed that several businesses are taking advantage of our incentives. Businesses are utilizing our Commercial Building Improvement Grant incentive where we are offering to pay a percentage of the cost of a building improvement.
Our CCEDC and City Council recognizes the need for improvements and this has been a wonderful tool to assist business owners. Another incentive that is very useful for businesses is the Bank of N.D. Flex Pace Interest Buydown. This incentive works with your lender, the Bank of N.D. and our office to buydown interest on a loan (primarily for property purchases).
Those are just two of the programs that we can utilize to assist businesses to grow. Other funds are available and if anyone is interested, they can contact our office. Currently, we are looking into developing another incentive to address workforce shortages in our businesses. More info will be coming soon on that.
Our office is located at 871 Main Street and we welcome folks to stop in and have a visit, ask questions or share ideas. You can also reach us at 652-2524 or email to: chambergal@daktel.com
Remember to support the businesses that support our community! Keep it local.
